1. Introduction
The Florida Panthers have been on the verge of extinction for over 40 years! They were some of the first species to be added to the US Endangered List in 1973.
2. Ecological Description
When Panthers are born, they have blue eyes and black spots on their fur. Once they grow up the spots fade and the eyes turn to a yellow/green color. There are no reports of any humans ever being attacked my these cats. Like most felines, Panthers cannot roar. They can only hiss, growl, purr and whistle.
3. Summary of the Problem
There are roughly 100-120 panthers left in the wild. The live only in the Southwest part of Florida. Because of the rapid development of neighborhoods and roads, the Panthers are running out of places to live
4. History of the Problem
Due to fear of losing livestock in the 1950's, they were attacked and killed in mass quantities.

-radio collars
-expand the 26,000 acre Florida Panther National Wildfire Refuge
The species number is slowly growing!
